Scottie to open Christmas I Detention Centre
Just in case

he loses the election in May,
Dutton lets a couple of leaky boats through the sea walls,
all of the offshore detainees get referrals to specialists for bad backs.

I say good. Open it up, Woomera and Port Hedland too. Bring all of the detainees back to the mainland and sack that company that runs private prisons at exorbitant cost to the budget.

Heard this morning about some poor sod who has been held in Villawood for nine years now. He's stateless and apparently they can keep him there indefinitely. The High Court said so. He is under a sentence for the term of his natural life. No crime, just don't know what to do with him. No clemency in the offing either, even though he is not a problem prisoner.

RE: Scottie to open Christmas I Detention Centre
That's disgraceful! They should immediately send him back to wherever it is that they want to kill him!

What is your solution Warrie? There has to be a reason beyond spite to keep someone in custody in those circumstances. It's not common practice, they have only the one example to show us so what is different about him?

Not qualified to refugee status? nope. Refuses to leave the country? yep.
Legally entitled to be set free with no papers? nope. So why is he still locked up? Mental issues perhaps?

Stateless? yep. why is he Stateless?? If his birth place no longer exists then he would be granted refugee status.
If it's there under new management then he'd be a political asylum seeker. Is he? Or is he Stateless for damned good reason? Because he's an escapee, or his own country won't have him back, or he refuses to tell where he comes from or who he is or why he's here?

How did he get to be Stateless? and when did that become our fault?

We take in something around 200,000 of these poor and huddled every damned year but we're supposed to commit hara kiri over some bloke who wriggled through the cracks?? sorry, not me.

Consider it a 9 year extension on his lifespan. C'mon it will make you feel better if you look at it that way.
Geeze how would you feel if they let him out and he fell under a bus??

(Or drowned on Woolgoolga beach! An Afgho managed to do that yesterday, it's the tamest beach on the North Coast, never saw a breaker higher than shoulder height there, it's a kids beach! Poor bloke might be still be alive if he'd stayed in Kabul.)

Damned if I can see how keeping the bugger fed and housed for 9 years is benefiting anyone at all except him.

You know different??

As for Scomo spending a bit on reopening Chrissy Isld, pure politics in play. Clever too. Shows how sure he is that Labor will open the gates. Loudest whistle he could make. Well played Scoey.

I know no more that I posted. As I said, I heard it on the radio. His case is going to be referred to the High Court. Details will follow, I am sure but currently they can keep him in Villawood until he dies, or Villawood does.

I asked the quack if I'd get slid up the waiting list if I landed in a boat. He just looked at me funny and said "how are you going to get into a boat??" good question.

You're worth more money, Max. You should approach the moderator for a raise. Idea
