QANTAS
I have been listening to Alan Joyce talking about plans for QANTAS for the next two or three years. I am impressed.

This restructuring does seem well thought out. I am confident that QANTUS will survive and will assist with the recovery of tourism in Australia. I've never been a fan of Alan Joyce but, cometh the hour, cometh the man.

It’s amazing how somehow this fundamental human rights issue has become about statues.

RE: QANTAS
and some insight into why business likes jobkeeper.
they don't have to fork out millions in redundancy payments and entitlements.
Qantas say they paying $600 million to get rid of people.

RE: QANTAS
Only caught a few minutes of it, but if it seems they've made some wise decisions then that would be a welcome change compared to some other made lately.

I heard something about mothballing the fleet in America? Why not park them with the other airlines who have mothballed theirs at Alice Springs? Maybe they've run out of flat space?

RE: QANTAS
The unions have piled in with abuse of Qantas.
the airline business will take years to recover.
Airlines are a dodgy business even in the best of times.

The unions will be in the dole queue! No jobs, no workers, no union fees.

RE: QANTAS
Exactly. Some may be entitled to redundancy payouts plus any long service leave etc. They will probably not be eligible for JobSeeker until the payouts are exhausted. It will take some time for all of the discarded workers to show up in the unemployment figures.

Maybe mothball them with the brand new cars that they can't sell.
