You couldn't do better than than a ride on the Manly ferry.

RE: Manly Ferry today
Did that often! One of very few things my father and I had in common was watching cartoons and rugging up and braving the worst of days to go for a spin on the Manly Ferries.

I hate ships that go up and down a lot, I get seasick, but I was okay for the few minutes it took to cross the swells coming in through the Heads.
That was always a buzz.

I don't recall that it was ever as hair raising as in that shot though. They used to suspend services at a certain swell height. We used to dread getting to the Quay, cold and soaking wet only to find they'd stopped the ferries. We always got lucky though/

Maybe the ferries are more robust now or something?

But the South Steyne used to do open sea cruises, went on one ...once!... it was like riding a ping pong ball.

Feel like surfing? This is somewhere near Bronte, I believe.

I loved riding on the "South Steyne".
It was a well built and tough boat.
I believe it was built in Scotland and sailed to Australia.
I enjoyed the once per week ocean cruises from the Quay to Broken Bay and return.
So cheap, so good !

RE: Manly Ferry today
That was the one I went on Tezza, Broken Bay and back

She was solid vessel, I'm just not cut out to be a sailor, I got sick fishing from a dinghy in Broken Bay!
Had to be rowed ashore and abandoned on a little beach for a couple of hours til the tide turned and I was picked up in the boat, by then full of bags of garfish, and rowed back to Ettalong. The swell had flattened a bit by then which was lucky as those fish don't smell great when you're sea sick.

I didn't even like garfish.

That's a great shot of the surf Warri, from the sound of it it's probably running bigguns up here too. Much louder than usual the last couple nights.

Interesting stuff.
